Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus VR, has revealed the title that he would most like to see made in virtual reality (VR). Speaking at the South By South West (SXSW) Gaming festival, Luckey stated that he’d love to see a Pokemon title support the company’s Oculus Rift VR headset.
“So I have a life long dream,” Palmer said after being asked what videogame he’d like to see with the Oculus Rift. “It’s something I’ve been passionate about since I was a kid and I think virtual reality could really enable it. I’ve always wanted to be a Pokemon master and that’s really what I want to do. I want to play an incredible, virtual reality Pokemon MMO.If I got my golden ticket, that’s where it’s taking me. I’m gonna catch them all, I’m gonna battle all my friends, I’m going to meet whatever the vague defintion of a Pokemon master is.
“I would join him there,” added Oculus VP of Product Nate Mitchell.
Pokemon started life on the Nintendo GameBoy in 1996. The series, which involves taming and training monsters, has since appeared on nearly ever Nintendo system, including the recent 3D titles, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y. Nintendo currently hasn’t announced any plans to work in VR. VRFocus will continue to follow all the latest VR news and report back.
