Sony has added a new date to its schedule for the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2014 in San Francisco this month. The company has announced a session entitled Driving the Future of Innovation at Sony Computer Entertainment, which will be held on Tuesday, 18th March. Could this be where the company unveils its rumoured PlayStation 4 Virtual Reality (VR) headset?
VRFocus had previously reported on another Sony session, Creating Unique Interactive Experiences with the PlayStation 4, which will take place the following day on 19th March. While it’s possible that could still host the reveal, this newly-announced presentation seems the more likely of the two.
For one thing, it’s presented by three senior members of Sony Computer Entertianment America (SCEA) staff including Senior Director Richard Marks, Senior Software Engineer Anton Mikhailov, and President of SCE Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida. There’s also a very brief description of the presentation that reads “Join Sony Computer Entertainment for a presentation on innovation at PlayStation® and the future of gaming.”
There aren’t any obvious giveaways, then, but this is the most high-profile of all of Sony’s GDC presentations. GDC runs from 17th – 21st March. VRFocus will be on the ground at the event to bring you all the latest on Sony and everything else VR.
