Indie development team Broken Windows Studios Inc. has launched a Kickstarter campaign for a new virtual reality (VR) compatible horror title named Grave. The campaign is hoping to raise $30,000 USD by 28th April 2014 in order to fund development of the experience. The title is set to support the Oculus Rift VR headset ‘where available’. It hopes to hit Windows, Mac and Linux in early 2015.
Grave is an open-world survival horror experience. It is a first-person title in which players fortify their homes during the day and defend them from strange creatures at night. Instead of conventional weapons, the creatures react to light, meaning players use anything torches to flashbang grenades to fend them off. The title has its own day/night system, with the genre twisting from exploration and adventure during the day to action and survival at night.
The experience is already in development with the Oculus Rift, meaning it isn’t placed behind a Kickstarter stretch goal or anything like that. The developer explained that the headset is “fullest realization of what first person games can offer.”
A range of Kickstarter rewards are available for backers. They reach all the way up to $3,500, where backers can get access to a Grave Halloween party as well as the likes of beta access and a physical copy of the game.
Should it get funded, then Grave hopes to launch in early 2015. VRFocus will continue to follow the title’s development.
