A developer by the name of Dithernet has released a small work-in-progress demo that allows users to tour the base of the Eiffel Tower in virtual reality (VR). Simply named Tower Eiffel, the project in its current form is free to download via the Oculus VR Share Beta. It can be used with the Oculus Rift VR headset.
While it’s not possible to travel up the tower itself, players can take a quick tour of the area below, which includes a few decorations such as cars, stands and buildings. Players are placed inside a ‘special capsule’ that surrounds them as they tour the area below the Eiffel Tower.
As the project’s webpage reveals, not all the functions have been implemented yet. It’s not possible to look up or down just yet. VRFocus will continue to follow Tower Eiffel and bring you an update as soon as there is more to share.
