Iceberg Interactive and developer Little Green Men Games have announced that the forthcoming Starpoint Gemini 2 will feature support for the virtual reality (VR) headset Oculus Rift. Currently in Alpha on Steam’s Early Access program, the space colony simulation title will offer gamers the opportunity to engage in combat while using the Oculus Rift’s stereoscopic 3D from launch.
Starpoint Gemini 2 is a space-simulation videogame with role-playing elements that places players in the role of a commander of a space colony as they face opposing forces from one of fifty factions as well as anomalies such as wormholes and rift ways to speed travel. Players can pilot more than seventy upgradeable space craft in a fully 3D combat system.
“Even from our short time spent with Oculus Rift, we’re certain it’s a breakthrough in the making, bringing a whole new perspective on games in general,” says Mario Mihokovic, CEO of Little Green Men Games. “We’re thrilled for the ability to become a part of the VR revolution early on and can’t wait to see what we can do with it and what other developers will think of too.”
Developer Little Green Men Games is looking for feedback on the development of Starpoint Gemini 2. Gamers interested in playing and sharing their experiences are invited to join the discussion on the Steam Community Hub. Starpoint Gemini 2 is available now via the Steam Early Access programme, priced at $22.99 USD, and includes a full version of the original Starpoint Gemini as standard.
