While Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) made few mentions of its Project Morpheus virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) during its Gamescom 2014 press conference yesterday, there were plenty of announcements of titles that could end up supporting the device. One such reveal was Snow, an upcoming winter sports title that already features support for the Oculus Rift VR HMD on PC.
Snow is an open world skiing experience that lets players explore details mountains across authentic events. The free-to-play title allows players to customise courses with their own jumps, rails and other additions. Players avatars can also be customised from clothes to equipment. The experience offers both single player modes and online play with friends. The title is currently available on Steam’s Early Access program for £10.99 GBP.
Snow was revealed as part of SCE’s range line up of indie developed videogames debuting first on consoles with PlayStation 4. While Project Morpheus support wasn’t mentionned, the developer is at Gamescom this week showcasing the title running with the Oculus Rift’s second development kit (DK2). A release date for the new version was not given, although it’s not yet clear when the PC edition will be leaving Early Access.
VRFocus will continue to follow Snow going forward, reporting back with any more updates on the title’s development.
