With its IndieGoGo crowd-funding campaign still ongoing, upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible horror title Caffeine has today arrived on Valve’s Steam Greenlight system. The title, developed by Incandescent Imaging, is hoping to secure enough postivie votes to be approved for sale come full release. When it does launch, it will be compatible with the Oculus Rift VR head-mounted display (HMD) on PC, Mac and Linux, with a PlayStation 4 version also planned.
Caffeine casts players as a young boy that awakes on an abandoned caffeine mining facility in space. Players will explore the environment in an attempt to uncover what has happened, solving puzzles and avoiding environmental traps as they go. Incandescent Imaging’s Dylan Browne recently teased VRFocus that players will encounter something on board the facility with them, though remains tight-lipped about it.
Caffeine‘s crowd-funding campaign hopes to raise $5,000 USD to help fund development of the title. Support for the Project Morpheus VR HMD on PlayStation 4 is possible, though the developer is yet to confirm its integration. VRFocus will continue to follow Caffeine going forward, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
