Developer Star Gem’s free-to-play massively multiplayer (MMO) space title, Star Conflict, has arrived on the official Oculus VR Share Beta, having added support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset earlier this April. The title can be downloaded on the site, which hosts a range of experiences compatible with the Oculus Rift, at no extra cost. It is available on PC, Mac and Linux.
Star Conflict‘s VR support allows players to sit in the cockpit of their own spaceships and use the device’s head-tracking to look around, similar to the likes of other VR space combat titles such as EVE Valkyrie. The title sees players choose one of three factions: Empire, Federation or Jericho and take on space expeditions to uncover anicient precursor ruins and recover priceless materials while defending themselves from threats.
The title is currently in pre-release form, with no word on when a full launch might happen. It’s the second space combat title published by Gaijin Entertainment to feature support for the Oculus Rift, the first being Little Green Men Game’s Starpoint Gemini 2. VRFocus will continue to follow Star Conflict’s progress and report back with any new developments.
