Star Gem and Gaijin Entertainment’s free-to-play, massively multiplayer space title, Star Conflict, has added support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) headset. The support comes as part of an update for the title’s 2-year annniversary which also adds compatibility with the Linux operating system. Special discounts and access to a free premium account for the title are also now available until 7th April 2014.
Oculus Rift support allows players to sit on the cockpit of their own spaceships and use the device’s head-tracking to look around. It isn’t the first space dog fighting title to bring Oculus Rift support to the table, although it is beating the likes of EVE Valkyrie to the punch.
It wasn’t detailed if Oculus Rift support will change any of the fundamental mechanics of the title, or is just a simple conversion. Star Conflict is available to play now. VRFocus will continue to follow any and all VR supported projects and bring them to you.
