Narcosis, an underwater survival title, is gearing up for a reveal at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) later this month. The title originally started life as a small student project but is now in full development. It’s been developed using the Unity Engine and has been in the works since 2012. The experience supports virtual reality (VR), using the Oculus Rift VR headset.
The title casts players as a stranded industrial diver. Having been abandoned after an accident, its your job to stay alive and find a way to the surface before losing all oxygen. Players explore the ocean depths looking for a way out of the blue abyss. The developers will be showing off the title throughout the course of GDC, which runs from 17th – 21st March 2014 in San Francisco.
Narcosis began development at French videogame school ENJMIN and went on to receive an Honorable Mention in the Student Competition cateogry at the 2013 Independent Games Festival. It’s not yet known when the title will see a full release. VRFocus will continue to follow the project and bring you all the latest.
