Indie developer Random Seed has released over 10 minutes of footage for its upcoming virtual reality (VR) compatible exploration title, Lacuna Passage. The footage is was created specifically for show at this week’s Game Developers Conference (GDC 2014), which runs from 17th – 21st March 2014. The title is compatible with the Oculus Rift VR headset.
Lacuna Passage is a first-person exploration set on Mars. Stepping into the shoes of Jessica Rainer, players have to survive on the planet’s surface, which is modeled on real topography from satellite imagery. The title takes its inspiration from the likes of Dear Esther, Pokemon Snap and 2001: A Space Odyssey.
A Kickstarter campaign for Lacuna Passage was successfully passed in July 2013. Oculus Rift integration was added after the project passed a $52,000 USD stretch goal. It’s estimated to arrive in December 2014. VRFocus will continue to follow the project and report back with all the lastest.
